My name is olaya, i am original from asturias (a beautiful part of northern spain) where i got my degree in classics and a master in teaching spanish. I am passionate about teaching, animals, travelling and discovering new cultures. I lived in london where during four years i taught spanish and i created my own agency, play español, from which i teach spanish to children. I hold the qualified statuts in uk and in addition, i am accredited as a dele examiner from instituto cervantes with experience at the miguel hernández university in elche, alicante. This background allowed me to understand very well the needs that the students face every day when they are learning a new language or living in a different country. As i am also student, i try to improve my english every day, for that reason i recognize the difficulties and challenges you may be experimenting. Consequently, my lessons are based in the active learning and the practise of real-life situations. The use of motivation, games and personalized source materials are essential part in the kind of teaching i defend. ¡hola! me llamo olaya y soy originaria de asturias. Me licencié en filología clásica por la universidad de oviedo y poseo el máster de formación de profesorado en la especialidad de lengua y literatura española, latín y griego. Soy una apasionada por la enseñanza, los animales, viajar y descubrir nuevas culturas. Residí en londres durante cuatro años y allí trabajé como profesora de español para extranjeros en varios centros de educación pública. Asimismo, cree mi propia agencia dedicada a la enseñanza de español para niños. Posee el estatus de profesora cualificada en españa y reino unido (qts) y asimismo, soy examinadora y formadora dele acreditada por el instituto cervantes de londres y poseo experiencia como tal en la universidad miguel hernández de elche, alicante. Toda esta experiencia y formación me ha permitido entender las necesidades y problemas a las que los estudiantes se enfrentan cada día. Al ser también estudiante de inglés, intento mejorar cada día y por esa razón, puedo reconocer fácilmente los retos a los que quizá estés haciendo frente. Debido a todo esto, mis clases están basadas en la enseñanza activa y la práctica en situaciones reales. El uso de juegos, la motivación y la creación de materiales individualizados son parte esencial del tipo de enseñanza que defiendo. Mi objetivo es adaptarme a tus necesidades y juntos podremos trabajar para crear un curso en el que consigas alcanzar tus metas a la vez que disfrutas. ¿Te vienes?

I have more than 4 years of experience teaching spanish. I can remark the following experiences:

- founder, teacher and director in play español, agency from which we organise private tuition and spanish clubs in different schools of london. I have experience teaching children with different backgrounds: original from bilingual families (spanish-english), no native speakers and children with special needs (dyslexia).
- primary supply teacher in just teachers ltd. I have worked in several different schools during my time in london. Some of these school included st matthias primary school & charlotte sharman primary school. I taught children between the ages of 5-1.
- spanish teacher in harris westminster college, london. I was in charge of the speaking area. My job was to help a-level students to prepare the speaking exams to get the pre-u cambridge certificate. I also have experience with pearson and edexcel qualifications.
- spanish teacher assistant. During one year, i worked in the mfl department at ernest bevin college, in london. I got a broad experience because i was the only native at the department. My duties included:
Assisting the teacher in the management of students and the classroom, coach tutor, helping students in their studies in spanish as a second language (gcse/a level), providing general support and one-to-one assistance for students, in charge of the spanish after school club, delivering educational programmes and assessing their impact on pupils, producing accurate and up-to-date records and reports as required, monitoring pupils’ perfomance throughout the year, teacher and first aider in the trip to nice, producing/creating resources and sow for the mfl department.
- private tutor: since i arrived london, i taught spanish to adults (1:1 tuition and smalls groups). I am specialised in dele exams preparation.

Most recently, i moved to spain but i am still working as a spanish teacher. I am still in charge of play español and i am teaching some of my old students using skype, so i have also experience in online lessons.
